Mitt Romney, Bain Capital, Sensata, and the Chinese Connection

Mitt Romney is on the podium preaching the line that he would create jobs, while his buddies at Bain Capital — the company he founded  — are outsourcing jobs to China. But the larger picture looks even worse and is happening right now.

These greedy bastards are actually packing up the Sensata Technologies factory owned by Bain Capital, and shipping the equipment, along with and our specialized American technology, to China. They are not even sneaking around like spies selling the technology to China, they are brazenly taking the technology and handing it, gift-wrapped, to the Chinese.

It is no secret that the Chinese have been breaking all our patent laws and stealing American designs and technologies for years, but now Mitt and his greedy cohorts are actually taking the technology to China themselves. This technology is worth far more than the plant is and will be able to generate billions of dollars for the Chinese economy while robbing America’s economy and technological advantage in the process.

They even brought Chinese engineers to the plant between May and July of this year and forced the Sensata workers to train them, as they were losing their jobs to the Chinese. Usually a company is sold when it is not making a profit, but in the case of Sensata, the company made more than $500 million in the second quarter of 2012.

Aren’t there laws about selling secrets to foreign governments? This Sensata plant produces high-quality sensors, which they sell to various car companies. The technology is uniquely American and is of the highest standard worldwide. The Chinese are just salivating over the prospect of acquiring the new technology. Without Bain Capital handing it to them, they would take years to develop this technology on their own.

Bain owns 51% of Sensata, and Romney personally owns at least $8 million worth of stock in Sensata, so Mitt Romney is very well informed that he is party to the outsourcing of American jobs to China. Not surprisingly, he and his campaign are very tight-lipped about this issue, while he pontificates about getting tough on China and their trade policies if he’s elected President. I’ll tell you right now, there will be no “get tough on China policy” in a Romney administration, should such an unthinkable thing happen.

For the past few months Sensata workers have been fighting tooth and nail to keep the jobs here. They have sent letters to Romney and his camp pleading for his input in saving their livelihoods. They have had doors shut on them by the Romney people and many of them have been arrested in protests held outside of the plant.

In the latest attempt to shed light on the issue, Ed Schultz of MSNBC did his evening show live from the Freeport IL on Friday, at the workers’ camp set up just outside the company gates. The workers have been trying to impede the trucks that come and go carrying the equipment out of the plant to be shipped to Communist China. In response to the show broadcast, the plant gates were barricaded and the workers were not allowed into the compound to work on Friday, which had been scheduled as their last day.

Workers at Sensata have been making an average of $17 an hour. The plant in China which will be producing the same products will pay an average of less than $1.00 per hour. Even though Sensata is making record profits, they see an opportunity to make even more money for their Bain Capital investors who never seem to have enough, no matter how much they make and how badly they hurt the nation’s economy and technological advantages.

Mitt Romney should not be elected President. He has been a dishonest broker in this whole matter and he is lying to the American people. He is not deserving of our trust or the job for which he has been running.
